4. Workflow and Screenshot Data

Recorded guide steps, descriptions, screenshots, and guide content are stored locally by the Chrome extension. StepGuide does not upload guide screenshots or guide content to the StepGuide backend.

When you explicitly start recording, StepGuide observes relevant clicks on the selected browser tab and captures screenshots necessary to create the requested guide. StepGuide does not continuously monitor browsing when recording is not active.

6. Chrome Storage

StepGuide uses Chrome local and session storage for recording state, guide data, local user-interface state, and sign-out state.

7. Stripe

Stripe is used to process the optional StepGuide Pro Lifetime purchase. StepGuide may send the authenticated user's email address and the purchase or account identifiers necessary to create and verify the checkout.

Payment card details are entered directly into Stripe Checkout and are not collected or stored by StepGuide.

10. No Advertising or Selling

StepGuide does not sell user data. StepGuide does not use user data for advertising, including personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising. User data is used only to provide and maintain StepGuide's disclosed functionality.

11. Limited Use

StepGuide's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs and Chrome extension permissions complies with applicable Google and Chrome Web Store user data policies, including Limited Use requirements, and is limited to providing or improving StepGuide's user-facing functionality.

12. Human Access

StepGuide does not allow humans to access private guide content or screenshots because that content remains stored locally and is not uploaded to the StepGuide backend. This does not prevent disclosure where required by law or access to information that you explicitly provide when requesting support.

13. Security

Communications between StepGuide and its account backend use HTTPS, and authentication credentials are handled securely. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so StepGuide cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Data Retention and Deletion

You can remove locally stored guide data through the extension or your browser. Account and purchase or entitlement records may be retained as necessary to provide the service, prevent entitlement loss, meet legal or accounting requirements, and maintain transaction records.
